Time Plan and Materials Needed:
For this project I will give myself one week, two tops, for research to make sure I have plenty of inspiration and to make sure I know exactly what it is I plan to do. In this time, I will also prepare myself by collecting all the materials I will need for this project so that I am prepared.
I will then give myself three-four weeks to create concept pieces, and give myself room to experiment and explore new ideas to ensure that my final product will be created to the best of my ability, and that I clearly get my idea down. I will also evaluate each new concept and technique I use in detail and explain what it is I like about it and what I think I can improve on. I will also explain why I enjoyed it, if I did, and what it was I didn’t like about it. Doing this well also help me have as much fun as possible with this project and prevent me from being stressed out by any annoying or tedious work, that could have been avoided.
With the remaining weeks, I will use this time to create the final product. This will give me plenty of time to add as much detail as I want and to correct any mistakes that could happen so that my piece can be something that I will be proud of. I want to really make sure that my project is done to a high standard, and that I am working efficiently and to the best of my ability.
POTENTIAL MATERIALS:
Project timeline:
Week beginning March 1st: Begin planning for the Final Master Project. Start the project Rationale, project concept, and evaluation. If there is time, then start the time plan and bibliography. Once complete, upload all work to Teams’ assignments. Bibliography and time plan can be done in sketchbook or on the computer (that’s optional).
For this I will need a sketchbook, and a laptop with internet access.
I will also start two mind maps on two different, potential, themes that my Final Master Project will be inspired by. I will then determine from these mind maps which one I prefer and has the most room for experimenting and trying something new. Doing this will help me make sure I am picking the best theme for me, to help create the best art I can.
DIARY:
This week I focused on getting my time plan, action plan, and list of materials done. I managed to get the mind maps done to help me choose a theme, so I can move on to my research. I even started my bibliography, and got most of my research done. I'm going to continue to add to my research as I come up with more ideas throughout the project.
I also created a few concept sketches, just to see if I would enjoy working on the theme I have chosen before really getting into it. I then created an example piece of a potential style I was thinking of using for my Final Master Project, again, to see if I wold enjoy using the style so I can enjoy working on the project.
Week beginning March 8th: For this week I will complete any unfinished research and, if not finished, then I will also complete the bibliography. Since my project theme will be Reflection, I will find different pieces created around my theme, the dictionary definition, and other meanings of reflection/reflect this will help me to come up with my own original idea, and create a piece that truly shows what reflection means to me.
For this I will need a laptop with internet access, a printer so I can print out the research I find, and a sketchbook. I will also need masking tape and/or a glue stick so I can put my research into my sketchbook.
DIARY:
This week I then moved all of my research from a word document, onto my website. I then had to add Harvard Referencing to all of my research. I then expanded on my research, picking new artwork and artists to use as inspiration. I also chose a few songs that could be used a lyrics, and wrote my favourite lyrics from the songs down. I haven't added them to my website yet, or done any Harvard referencing yet, because I'm not sure if I'm actually going to use songs yet.
Like what I did with the Artist Book project, I've been writing down anything that my family says that is weird, or funny. This is because my family are important to me, and I think it will work with my theme since they have always supported my career choice.
Week beginning March 15th: This week I will begin taking reference photos inspired by my theme and research, and I will begin to compose a composition and an idea. I will take several photos, with several different emotions involved. I want my piece to be personal to me. I will also get a list of materials I will need throughout this project.
I will also start the composition sketches and ideas, to find what works best for me. I will even start some example pieces of potential styles I can use for the final product.
For this I will need my phone for the camera, and a mirror to take my reference photos inspired by the theme. I will also need a sketchbook, and a pencil so I can start out my composition sketches, and I will need all the art supplies I have listed previously in my project proposal.
DIARY:
This week I worked more on my research and started taking reference photos. I took the first lot of photos on Tuesday. I then edited some of the photos together to get the exact references I wanted, since I want the sketches to convey an emotion. I then started sketching some of my ideas and some of the un edited reference photos to see if they were just as strong as an image before the editing.
On the edited photos, I only merged some together, and changed the composition. I didn't play around with the colours, contrast, or saturation because I want to just have fun with the colours when I'm painting the piece.
Week beginning March 22nd: This week I will be starting to composition sketches, initial ideas, and experimental pieces. This is where I will be free with my ideas and not think too much about it being perfect. This will allow me to really be creative with my thinking and let me come up with the best idea I can for my final piece. I want to be as openminded as possible when coming up with ideas so that I don’t restrict myself, and essentially hold myself back.
For this I will need all the materials listed in the project proposal, a sketchbook, a water colour sketchbook, and a pencil to draw with. I will also need some paint brushes so I can paint.
DIARY:
This week I started on a few composition sketches, and started combining ideas. I experimented with new styles and techniques with the concept peices. I also added to my research, and explored new ways to express my theme, 'reflection' within my work.
For this week I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but I am still pleased with the work I managed to produce.
Week beginning March 29th: This week I will begin to narrow down my ideas and choose the best concepts and develop them further. I will also begin to add more detail, and depth, into the pieces so that I can get a real feel of how the final piece could potentially look.
For this I will need the materials listed in the project proposal, some canvases, a sketchbook, and a water colour sketchbook. I will also need a pencil, and some paint brushes.
DIARY:
This week I was still working on some new composition ideas, and exploring new ways to work with my theme. I even painted on some random materials that may not be seen as conventional art materials. I did this to see the different textures and effects I could get from the materials, instead of trying to create an effect with the materials Im using to draw/paint with. From doing this, I came to the conclusion that I do prefer using canvas, since I'm not going through a lot of paint with it, and the paint doesnt just run off it. It also doesnt warp, so my piece will still look good afterwards.
Week beginning April 5th: First week of the April holidays. For this week I plan to finish off any of the concept pieces and experimental pieces that I may not have gotten done.
For this I will need my unfinished concepts, and the materials listed in my project proposal.
DIARY:
This week I haven't managed to finish my concpet pieces, and I am still working on them. I had hoped to be finished to give myself plenty of time on my final piece so that I can fix any mistakes. I keep thinking of new ideas, and inspirations and I'm trying to fit it all in so I can narrow down my ideas, and Not feel disapointed with what I created by the end of the project.
I'm hoping that I can start my final peice by the end of next week so that I will have plenty of time to really focus on the piece and make it to the best of my ability.
This week I also decided I would tear one of my drawings up, and then mount it on a bigger piece of paper in my sketchbook, an paint behind/between the rips. I was trying a new idea, and I dont hate what I made.
Week beginning April 12th: Second week of the April holidays. For this week I will start a couple of mock final pieces so I can make sure I am picking the right composition, and I’m happy with where the project is going.
For this I will need a sketchbook and a pencil, just to get the composition sketches started.
DIARY:
This week, I have created a few more concept pieces, and I went out an bought a small, cheap, mirror so I can smash. This is because I have a few ideas involving a broken reflection, and I want to properly explore them before I settle on my final idea.
Week beginning April 19th: For this week I will be adding more detail and depth into the mock concepts for my final piece. This is so that I can get my ideas clearly down onto paper, so that I can see if the idea will work or not. In this week I will hopefully get the mock pieces done so I can start the final piece as soon as possible. I will also make a final decision on the materials I’m going to use for my final piece based on my evaluations throughout the project.
For this I will need all the materials I have listed in the project proposal, and I will need a pencil and some paintbrushes so I can add detail.
DIARY:
For this week I finally got a small mirror for me to break and start the concept pieces to lead to my final piece. I have given myself seven years bad luck, and taken some cool photos. I also sanded down the sharp edges on the mirror so that I can use the pieces later on if I choose to, for my final painting.
Week beginning April 26th: For this week I will finish off anything I may have not had enough time for, then I will hopefully start my final piece.
For this I will need all the materials that have been listed above, a large canvas, a pencil, a mirror (broken), and my reference photos and mock pieces. This is so that I can successfully combine my favourite ideas into one final piece.
For this I will need the materials that I have agreed will be used for the final piece in the pervious week, and I will need a marge canvas.
DIARY:
This week I have picked my favourite concept piece, and started work on my final painting. I have gotten the basic sketch done, and added some basic colours and corrected any proportion mistakes.
Week beginning May 3rd: [This week is not for the final project; it is to give us time to complete unit 9 with Sarah and Oonagh.]
DIARY:
We started and finsished unit 9, and I got a basic start to my final piece. I got the grid, practice sketches and outlines, as well as adding in basic block colours to the areas inside the broken mirrors. I also added basic detail to the faces within the piece.
Week beginning May 10th: I will use this week to add more detail to my final piece.
For this I will need the canvas I have been currently working on. And I will need the materials I have been using for it.
DIARY:
This week I have taped up the parts of the painted I didnt want to get paint on, and painted the background in a wash of orange. I have then added basic details to the background and added more defined details to the faces within the painting.
I then started a sketch of on my piece again on a practice canvas, because I had a new idea that I wanted to try.
Week beginning May 17th: I will still be continuing with my final piece and correcting any mistakes I may see whilst working.
For this I will need the canvas I have been currently working on. And I will need the materials I have been using for it.
DIARY:
This week I have added more detail to my final painting, and printed out all o fmy reference photos to stick down into my sketch book. I have then annotated the reference photos, and said why I didn't pick certain ones, and why I chose the one I did. I also finished a practice final piece to try one of my ideas, to see if I would like it for my final piece.
Week beginning May 24th: I will be finishing off my final piece.
For this I will need the canvas I have been currently working on. And I will need the materials I have been using for it.
DIARY:
This ween I have been finishing everything off and adding last details to my final piece. I also evaluated all of my work, and put the evaluation into my sketchbook.
I have given myself four weeks in total to work on my final piece. This is to allow myself some time to fix any mistakes I may notice throughout, and to make sure I am creating to best piece I can. This is to also give me enough time to add all the details I am hoping to add.
After each week I will evaluate how well I have stuck to the time plan and look at it to see if I would need to adjust the plan or not. Hopefully, I will stay on track and get my piece complete by the hand-in date.
I will then give myself three-four weeks to create concept pieces, and give myself room to experiment and explore new ideas to ensure that my final product will be created to the best of my ability, and that I clearly get my idea down.
