Final Master Project Bibliography:
The theme I have chosen for my Final Master Project is Reflection. I have chosen this theme because there are several different ways I could interpret this theme, and I love how distorted a reflection can be. I also love seeing artwork that has been created when the person 'reflects' on their past experiences, or on their childhood. I feel like this theme is very open, and will allow me to be as creative as I want with it.

This reference photo above is really good research for the project I am doing, since my theme is reflections. I thought I was sure about who took this photo, Jack Davidson, but after trying to find it again on his website, and looking through all of his main work, I was unable to find it. So, I had to go back to Pinterest to find it again so I can have a website for it. I love the composition of this photo, and I’ve chosen it as inspiration mainly because it uses mirrors, but also because it’s a great photo. This image will help me choose a good composition for my reference photos I will be taking, and for my final piece.

I like this photo for inspiration because yes, it is a reflection, but its not using mirrors it using water. I like the creativity of the composition. The photo was taken by Jack Davidson. Again, I was struggling to find it on his main website, but I found it on another website that said he was the photographer. This will work for good inspiration because it will help me choose a good composition for my reference photos I will be taking, and for my final piece.

I like this photo for inspiration because it’s a broken reflection, and with that there can be so much meaning and power behind it. I’m unsure about who took this photo, but I do really like this image. I like how delicately the hands are holding the broken piece, and I love the expression and composition of the photo. This will work for good inspiration because it will help me choose a good subject matter, and composition for my reference photos I will be taking, and for my final piece.

Above is a photo taken by Michelle De Rose, and I love the composition. I love this image so much, and I love that the reflection is so crisp and clear, with the background being blurred. I think this composition and photo can work really well for my research since I am thinking about doing something with broken mirrors. This photo will help me with finding the best/right composition and subject matter for my own reference photos I will be taking, and for my final piece.

I love this reference photo, because I feel it makes the woman in the photo seem evil and like a villain, rather than heartbroken and like a victim. I’m not quite sure who the photographer is, but I still love the photo. I think the composition is great, and it creates a powerful photo. This photo is good research because I am also thinking about using a broken mirror for my reference photos, and I think this photo is amazing. This photo will also help me to decide on a great reference photo, with the composition. Expression, and subject matter.

Above is a powerful photo taken by Tony Luciani. I love this photo so much. I think the image is so strong and emotional and it really does make you think about where you came from (at least for me anyway). With this image I can use it for inspiration with the composition (I wouldn’t use the mirror to reflect back in the same way Luciani did because that’s copying), and I do love the idea of reflecting on the past. This image can help me come up with my own ideas for my reference photos, and my final piece.

I feel this photo tells so much, and its actually quite emotional and that’s what I want my final piece to do. I want it to be strong and emotional and tell a story. I love this piece so much. I love the minimalistic use of colours and I love how scribbly the fine liner is. I think this style is great, and I love how well Pugh has done it. I love how, even with a limited colour palette, he has managed to create depth within this piece.
This piece is inspiring because it is almost like organised chaos. Its scribbly and messy, yet beautiful. If I use this piece for inspiration it will be the scribble technique I try, just to see if I enjoy it.

I love Spirovski’s style and use of colours, and I have chosen this other piece from them because I feel that even though it’s the same style, her composition and use of colour is different.
This piece is great for research because the style is so unique, and the creativity is inspiring. If I do end up using this image as a reference for style, I will NOT create is the same. I will use the colours and that is about it. I don’t want to copy or steal anyone’s artwork, but I can be inspired. I love the colour palette used and I feel this can inspire me to choose my palette when it comes to me creating my final piece.

Above is a painting created by Henrietta Harris. I love the use of colours in this piece, and I love that she has painted over the face. I love the style of this piece ass well, and I feel this piece is great inspiration. This is because I love the muted colour palette, and I love about she changed up the piece by covering the face entirely.

Above is another piece created by Henrietta Harris, using water colours. I love the style of this piece, and I love how she distorted the images slightly, and has create an almost surreal piece. I love that she uses a muted colour palette, because it works so well with her style. I also love how she warped the image, and how well the composition works.
This is good research and inspiration because it’s so creative, and there are so many elements I love about this piece.

Above is yet another piece created by Henrietta Harris. I love her style so much and I really like this piece. I think the composition is great, and I do just love how well she manipulates the images. Think this is great inspiration for my Final Master Project because this piece is so creative, and her use of colours and how well she manipulates the images but keeping everything in proportion is amazing.

Above is a portrait created by Andrew Salgado. I love this piece so much. I love the use of the block colours and I love the techniques used. I love that there isn’t too much detail, but you can still make out what/who it is. I do really love the colour palette Salgado used, and I think it all works really well. I find this piece inspiring because he has managed to create a portrait out of block colours, and he has used a lot of warm colours, and to contrast he has added in hints of cool colours. This piece will help me choose a colour palette and techniques I can use in my final piece.

Above is another piece created but Andrew Salgado.
I have chosen this piece because, the technique he has used is similar to the last image, but he has added more detail, and a wider range of colours have been used. I do love his style, and I love how bright and vibrant his colour palette is. I find this piece inspiring because I love how well its been done, and I love the colours and techniques used. I feel this piece can inspire me to choose a good colour palette for my final piece.

Above is a piece created by one of my favourite artists, Noel Badges Pugh.

Above is another piece created by Noel Badge Pugh. I love the use of colours within this piece, and I love that he has used the scribble technique again. I chose this image for research and inspiration because I love how vibrant the colours are, and yet how limited the colour palette is. I also love the depth within the piece, and how well he has managed to create the shadows and highlights with only using solid, block, colours.
I find this piece inspiring because Pugh has limited the materials and colours, he used to create something so messy, and yet amazing and beautiful to look at.
Nathan Wyburn. 2021. Nathan Wyburn. [ONLINE] Available at: https://www.nathanwyburn.com/. [Accessed 19 March 2021].
Above is artwork created by Welsh artist, Nathan Wyburn. I have decided I will use him as research since he creates amazing portraits out of weird materials, and food. I think he will be good research since he is so creative, and inspiring. I love how different each piece is, and he is incredibly talented.
I think he is good research because his work is different, and he inspires me to be more adventurous with my work, and experiment more with different techniques.
With his work, he paints portraits of people related to the news at the time, or big moments in pop culture. So, one of his recent pieces was of Piers Morgan, and he created it with Marmite on toast. He had to then come out and say he doesn't support Piers Morgan, or like him but it was relevant because of the drama with the royal family and him quitting his job. He has created many, many, other pieces that aren't on his website, but they are on his Instagram.
